Monetary Donations

LDR is completely run out of pocket — no government funding, no big sponsors. Every donation, big or small, goes straight to the dogs and helps keep them happy, healthy, and safe. It means a lot, and it really makes a difference. You can donate using any of these options:

  • E-transfer: Interac e-transfers are the quickest and easiest way to send funds online. Donations can be sent to localdog-anti-bot-bit@-anti-bot-bitgmail.com

  • Postal mail: Cheques, cash or money orders can be mailed to the address on the contact page.

*Note: As the rescue is a volunteer-run operation (not a registered charity), banking regulations require that cheques/money orders be made payable to me personally (Troy Way). You may add "Local Dog Rescue" in the memo section.

  • Donate to Veterinary Care: Donate directly to my account at Highview Animal Clinic when a dog requires veterinary care. This can be done in person or over the phone with a debit/credit card. Announcements for dogs requiring vet care will be posted on my Facebook page.

Canadian Naturals Chicken & Brown Rice Charlee Bear treats

Dog Food & Treats

I feed the dogs a single, trusted brand to keep them healthy and avoid stomach issues caused by switching foods or using lower-quality options. This food is available at both *Thunder Pet* locations. If you’d like to help, you can purchase food or treats in-store and leave them for pickup—just ask staff to add it to my account under the “Frequent Feeder” credit.

Bedding & Towels

We are always in need of blankets, in particular:

  • Flannel, microfibre, sherpa, fleece and cotton blankets
  • Baby blankets are great too!
  • Solid foam dog beds with removable/washable covers
  • Waterproof crib mattresses
  • Towels (medium to X-large, gently used)
  • Double/queen size fitted sheets

*Note - I do not give the dogs large comforters, duvets, dog beds etc with loose fluffy stuffing as they are difficult to wash/dry, and the stuffing can be hazardous if ingested.
