The best ways to help are to encourage people to spay or neuter their pets, educate others to be responsible pet owners, and teach children to love and respect animals. Then of course there are a few other ways you can help me continue to help the dogs here at Local Dog Rescue. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to get in touch...
Running a rescue is a costly endeavor. Food, treats, toys, veterinary care, medications... it all really adds up. Donations to Local Dog Rescue are greatly appreciated and all funds go towards the care of the dogs. Donations can be made using any of these methods:
Interac e-transfers can be emailed directly to dogsInfo)@localdogrescue.com (
Cheques, cash or money orders can be mailed to the address on the contact page.
*As LDR is not a registered charity, banking regulations require that cheques/money orders be made payable to Troy Way with "Local Dog Rescue" in the memo.
You can donate directly to our veterinary account when a dog requires vet care. This can be done in person or over the phone with a credit card. Announcements for dogs requiring vet care, along with the vet clinics info, will be made on the main page of the website and our Facebook page.
Second to vet care, food is our next biggest expense. Our goal is to improve the overall health of each dog so we feed only specific brands of higher quality foods purchased from Thunder Pet pet store on Mountdale.
Food can be purchased using our rescue discount and left in the store for us to pick up. We also gratefully accept *Thunder Pet Gift Certificates* and *Thunder Pet stamp cards*. Each completed card is worth ten dollars off our food purchase and can be left in our Local Dog Rescue donation jar.
We currently feed the brands listed below, available at both Thunder Pet locations:
* For safety and health reasons we can only accept sealed and non-expired food donations. Alternative brands from what I normally feed may be donated to the Feeding Program for the Northern Dogs group.
Donation jars (picture) for LDR can be found at a few business locations around town. The ones at Thunder Pet are not only for cash donations; you can also purchase gift certificates or donate your stamp cards. Each completed stamp card is worth ten dollars off our food purchase.
Canadian Tire carries many products we use here every day such as cleaning supplies (green non-toxic cleaners only), dog toys (kongs), treats, poop-scoop bags etc. If you would like to donate your Canadian Tire money you can send it by mail, drop it in our mailbox, or send me a message and I'll stop by and pick it up. Contact info is available on the contact page.
